Understanding e-safety awareness and your digital footprint

Finalist category: Digital Skills Award

#T4GCyberChampions

Finalist, 2015

Cyber Champions address the social challenge of using digital technology by supporting children and adults, and promoting online wellbeing. Through free courses, interactive workshops and mentor programmes, they deliver a key message of understanding how to use the internet safely.

Since they began in 2011, Cyber Champions has delivered workshops to over 8,500 children, parents and silver surfers across the UK, run by young professional volunteers. Workshops are adapted for each age group, from primary, secondary, sixth form, parents, teachers and senior citizens, with appropriate information, interactive and engaging scenarios and videos.

By encouraging children and adults to have a positive digital footprint, and to consider both the benefits and risks that come with using the internet and social media, Cyber Champions promote digital literacy and e-safety awareness.
