BT Young Pioneer Award 2021: Terms and Conditions of Prizes

  1. The Competition is open to UK residents aged 9 to 18.  Only one entry per person OR per group (max 5 people) is permitted.
  2. The Promoter reserves the right to verify the eligibility of entrants and check their identity. If you are under 16, you agree that you have a parent/guardian’s consent to enter.
  3. The winner/s will receive the following prizes:
    1. Up to £10,000 off support from BT to help them develop their idea. BT will consult with the winner to identify the best way to use the money. For example, it could be used on relevant tech equipment e.g PC/Raspberry Pi or to fund market research.
    2. BT will arrange any purchases directly and will not transfer any funds to the winner. BT’s will have the final decision on any expenditure.
    3. Volunteering support from BT experts. The details of this support are at BT’s discretion.
    4. As part of BT’s involvement in COP 26, BT will use its best endeavours to showcase the winner’s idea as part of activities surrounding the conference. However we cannot guarantee this will happen as BT is not organising the event.
  4. The prize may not be used in conjunction with any other offer hosted by the Promoter.
  5. The Promoter reserves the right to substitute a prize of equivalent or greater value if this is necessary for reasons beyond its control.
  6. Entries must be made by answering the questions on the Tech4Good BT Young Pioneer Award entry form by midnight on 9 May 2021.
  7. The winner/s will meet the criteria for judging entries as laid out on the Tech4Good website and shall be chosen by an independent panel of judges.
  8. The winner[s] will not be notified ahead of the Award Ceremony. The winner[s] will be announced at the Tech4Good Award Ceremony on the in July 2021.  Attendance is not compulsory but advised. If you are unable to attend the ceremony you will be notified of the outcome via email.
  9. Winners will be selected in order of merit and will meet a minimum standard of quality. The judges’ decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
  10. The funding will be available to the winner no later than 31 March 2022.
  11. A list of prize winners (first and last name only) will be available on the Tech4GoodWebsite after the Award Ceremony.
  12. By entering this competition, you agree that your image, biography and likeness (if applicable) may be used by the Promoter in unpaid promotional related publicity (including photographic shots and interviews).
  13. Your personal details will be retained for the purpose of the Competition and will not be processed for any other purpose, unless you choose or have chosen to receive information from the Promoter or Tech4GoodFor more information please see BT’s Privacy Policy which can be found at http://www2.bt.com/privacypolicy.
  14. No cash alternative will be offered and prizes are non-transferable.
  15. The Promoter reserves the right to re-draw the winner if they cannot be contacted within a reasonable period of time (to be established at the promoter’s sole discretion) and the right to disqualify any entrant or select alternative winner in the event that it believes that any entrant has contravened these Terms and Conditions.
  16. All entries must be the independent and original creation of the entrant and must not infringe the copyright or other intellectual property rights of any third party.
  17. Submitting an entry to this Competition is deemed to be acceptance by the entrants of these Terms and Conditions. The Promoter reserves the right to alter, amend or foreclose this Competition without prior notice in the event that unforeseen circumstances make this unavoidable.
  18. The Promoter accepts no responsibility for any loss, damage, injury or disappointment suffered by any entrant resulting from entering this Competition or by the entrant’s acceptance of the prize, or any damage to any entrant’s or other person’s computer or mobile phone equipment as a consequence of downloading any material relating to this promotion.
  19. This promotion is governed by the laws of England and Wales.
