Founder of the Artist Support Pledge initiative, and winner of our Tech4Good Arts & Culture Award Matthew Burrows has recently been awarded with an MBE in the Queen’s 2020 Birthday Honours List. Each year the list recognises the achievements of outstanding individuals across the United Kingdom. Burrows received the award for his service to the arts in the Covid19 response with his creation of the Artist Support Pledge.

Matthew started the ASP in response to the pandemic, designed to build a generous culture of artists and buyers and create a sustainable economy in the turbulent market. The initiative requires the simple use of the #ArtistSupportPledge hashtag on Instagram, that allows buyers and sellers to connect. Already a global movement, the Artist Support Pledge has provided income for thousands of artists who have lost out on the usual opportunities of craft fairs and markets.

The ASP is built on generosity and inclusivity. It presents equal opportunity and a platform for all to participate. A huge congratulations to Matthew on this incredible achievement, we wish him all the best as he continues his work in the arts.
