PlusGuidance puts therapy in the patient’s fingertips

Finalist category: BT Ingenious Award

#T4GPlusGuidance

Finalist, 2015

PlusGuidance is an online counselling platform that helps people securely and discreetly connect with a counsellor that’s right for them. Through video-calls, voice-calls and instant messaging, the service is private, accessible and anonymous, allowing for a wider audience to be reached and for therapy to be followed-through with.

Nathaniel Smithies founded the company after experiencing mental health difficulties himself, and realised the extent of the boundaries to accessing healthcare facilities. PlusGuidance offers users and councillors discreet, easy-to-use software that’s accessible any time they need it. It puts patients in control of their therapy: they can choose their counsellor, as well as where, when and how their therapy is carried out.

Looking forward, PlusGuidance has recently completed the beta-testing phase and is now expanding, increasing the number of counsellors available online, and creating standards to facilitate expanding internationally.
