Finalist, 2015

London’s Air Ambulance delivers an advanced trauma team to critically injured people in London, responding to, on average, 2,000 people every year. Time is a critical factor in helping to save lives, or prevent the risk of disability.

London’s Air Ambulance worked with EE and Mubaloo to identify ways in which mobile devices and 4G technology could be utilised to reduce the steps required and provide emergency responders with the right information. It was essential that the app was reliable, secure and able to immediately receive urgent case information. The result was the Dispatch app.

The Dispatch app integrates with the current London Air Ambulance service system, as well as London A-Z maps, to save time and reduce the chance of human error. After a year of development and testing the app went live in January 2015, making a huge difference to the way in which London’s Air Ambulance is able to respond to emergencies, especially when the ground or air team has already been deployed. London’s Air Ambulance has been able to save up to two minutes on its dispatch process, and when car-based the team has been able to be assigned in as little as 10 seconds.
